Jun 30, 2012 7:04 PM in response to adaema_82by carriellyn,Mine has been working all day today. The first time in a month. I was able to preview full length and bought about 20 songs. I have not made any changes to my internet, firewall, itune settings, nothing. I had given up for a while and started buying my songs from Amazon, but thought I'd give it another try today. I still prefer the Itunes store vs. amazon and will continue using itunes as long as it continues to work.
This has all been a great mystery! I still get the feeling it has not been solved yet, however.

Jul 1, 2012 11:44 AM in response to crysmysby crysmys,I take it back.. the 'fix' was apparently a coincidence.. with no changes on my end, iTunes preview has stopped working again. Frustrating.

Jul 1, 2012 7:19 PM in response to cjhedrickby mamaslow,Thanks, Andro28, who suggested turning on the Genius feature. After reinstalling and changing i-tunes and computer settings and a lot of reading with no positive results, this worked! I turned on Genius in my i-tunes, and I can once again preview the full time on a song. Thanks Andro28! If you are having the same issue, at least try it!

Jul 4, 2012 9:49 AM in response to cjhedrickby timothyfan,I also have this issue. Started in May and comes and goes. Someday's it works fine, other days some songs play full preview and others do not. I tunes support blames Internet Connection. This seemed to occur after a windows update in May. Today is a day it is not working. Using Amazon or others to preview.

Jul 4, 2012 1:25 PM in response to cjhedrickby dreams2,1. Use these DNS:
Primary DNS = 8.8.8.8 Secondary DNS = 4.2.2.1 2. Then apply these instructions: Windows XP
- On the Start menu, click Run.
- In the Open field type cmd and click OK.
- In the resulting window, type ipconfig /flushdns and press Return(Enter) on the keyboard.
- You should see a message that the DNS Resolver Cache has been successfully flushed.
Windows Vista, 7
- On the Start menu, point to All Programs > Accessories and then right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator from the shortcut menu. If Windows needs your permission to continue, click Continue.
- In the resulting window, type ipconfig /flushdns and press Return(Enter) on the keyboard.
- You should see a message that the DNS Resolver Cache has been successfully flushed.
Your problem should be 100% solved
Big thanks to wunbadapple

Jul 4, 2012 2:35 PM in response to awncanaby wunbadapple,This does not work 'for you'. It has worked for 99% of others in several threads. DNS is only a very small pat of establishing and maintaining a connection to the network. I would suggest contacting Apple. If they can't help you I would suggest requesting a refund of any remainiing money in your iTunes account and migrating to other music services. Even though I have been doing networking for over 30 years and can overcome bad software/hardware design, I have already done so due to Apple's lack of customer service predicated on their arrogant we are Apple - it must be your problem attitude. There are many variables in networking. The timing of the DNS response due to location, routing, etc could affect processing of the response in iTunes. Changing the DNS server doesn't resolve the underlying bogus code in iTunes. It only provides a larger margin of error. Hencenot guaranteed to work 100% of the time.

Jul 5, 2012 6:13 AM in response to wunbadappleby beachbum4ever,Something strange I just found out. Everytime I play a preview they stop at 20 seconds. Zac Brown is streaming his entire album right now to preview. It even stops after 20 seconds. All this is happening on my network. I hooked up my Verizon MiFi wireless sitting here in the same spot same computer and the previews work fine. Play the entire time. Zac Brown, I can preview the whole album. Is it a network problem on certain networks??

Jul 5, 2012 7:30 AM in response to beachbum4everby Jimmer07,That is why we keep telling people to change the DNS. I experienced the same thing. I have two ISPs and it worked perfectly on one of them without making any changes to the computer. After changing the DNS for the one it wasn't working on (by the way they are notorious for having a poor DNS look-up) it works perfectly on that one as well.
So while I agree that it is an iTunes issue that Apple should work to correct, it does have something to do with how the information is being retrieved.

Jul 5, 2012 4:52 PM in response to cjhedrickby brihar73,While I agree that Apple's employees should be more aware and knowledgeable, this is not an Apple issue, it's an ISP and DNS issue. I was using Comcast's default address at 75.75.75.75, but as soon as I switched it to Google's 8.8.8.8, my problems were solved! Thanks again to wunbadapple for his efforts.
