Aug 17, 2012 2:34 PM in response to allyourapplesbelongtomeby JD02,While I know some folks say the DNS works...this does not make sense to me since all of my devices are on 1 FiOS wireless network (i.e. Windows computer, Apple iPad2, etc.) and the only issue is with my computer. To further it...my computer is no on my network wirelessly...it is hard wired to it. However, my iPad2 is on the network wirelessly.
Moreover, I can't get the full songs when I purchase them on the computer, only on the iPad...the full song downloads just fine to the iPad wirelessly.
I have an extremely fast computer on the fastest FiOS network...yet iTunes purchases and previews will not work on the computer. I am not a "computer" person...but I'm a logical one and this just does not make sense to me at all.
I had an issue a LONG time ago with iTunes and went thru everything with service, my IT guys, nothing worked...then Apple came out with patch and violia...iTunes worked again. It had absolutely nothing to do with my computer and everything to do with iTunes.
All that said...time is money and I don't have time to keep messing with this....I'm done! I have gone to using Amazon to purchase all my music now...same prices, in a lot of cases even cheaper and they download to my iTunes with NO PROBLEM...previews are great too!

Aug 17, 2012 3:02 PM in response to allyourapplesbelongtomeby Nancy Hanks,From what I've gathered from the posts here, we all have Verizon FIOS. So, you're saying this is a Verizon FIOS problem? There DNS servers are outdated?
I do not have any other issues like those you suggest in #2.

Aug 17, 2012 4:20 PM in response to crysmysby Doffer,This is my 3rd or 4th entry since this thread was started and this is just an update to say that nothing has changed for me except a reduction in the number of purchases that I make.
Some days "song previews" play in full, but more often they don't. I gave up fiddling with my computer settings long ago because there was no way of knowing a fix from a fluke. I know computers and until May of this year I've been a long time satisfied iTunes customer. I've concluded that whatever is causing this problem is obviously beyond my control.

Aug 18, 2012 6:42 AM in response to cjhedrickby FDionne,I have the same problem. My computer works perfectly and I have a very stable 25 Mbps connection. I refuse to make any configuration changes as it is obviously an Apple problem. I suspect it will be solved eventually in an update. In the meantime, if they want to deny that it is their problem, they can do so, I will simply buy my music elsewhere - iTunes is the only Apple product I use.

Aug 18, 2012 9:49 AM in response to adaema_82by Ketzel,I've been having this problem on and off (mostly on) for over a month. In that time, on about five occasions, I've tried to use itunes previews and it worked. But I have done nothing at all to attempt to fix the problem from my end, and there is nothing that obviously explains why it worked at 9:30pm on Tuesday and didn't work at 10:45am on Wednesday. Just chiming in to make the thread longer, in the hopes that it will eventually draw the attention of someone who knows something at Apple.

Aug 18, 2012 11:41 AM in response to Ketzelby anna298,Apple has ignored this for months now and I have been ignoring them in return. I preview all the music I want for free on You Tube then purchase from Amazon. They have an amazing cloud player that works on all devices and the process is seamless. As a bonus if you sign up for Amazon Local you can receive a free voucher for $3.00 off any album of $5.99 or more. Amazon has hundreds of albums for $5.99 so you are certain to find something you like and it will only cost you $2.99.
I don't believe that the problem is truly with Verizon. If so, why doesn't Apple acknowledge it and either offer a fix or direct you to Verizon. They have a long history of treating their customers like **** and this is yet another example. However, their dominance is coming to an end. They have serious competition from Samsung and others at much lower price points. Their products are being offered in locations that never carried them before and they are advertising them "on sale".
I refuse to patronize a business that does not value their customers. If enough people boycott Itunes they will be forced to fix this issue. Good by Apple and good riddance

Aug 18, 2012 1:04 PM in response to anna298by FDionne,Indeed, this has nothing to do with the ISP. I live in Canada and large U.S. ISPs don't have operations here, and the iTunes store is different. Yet, the problem is the same.

Aug 18, 2012 1:25 PM in response to cjhedrickby jdf4373,Your probably right that it has nothing to do with the ISP but everything has been working fine for me after powercycling my modem. Cant hurt i guess.

Aug 19, 2012 8:43 AM in response to cjhedrickby AP NYC,I'm having the same problem. Very annoying. Movie preview works fine....as does everything else about my FIOS interenet connection. My strong suspicion is that it is a problem on Apple's end.
Does def impact the amount of music I purchase.

Aug 19, 2012 11:16 AM in response to carocuthby Carzakat,Since the apple guy fixed the dns numbers I've been able to preview songs....I've bought about 50 songs so far the last 3 or 4 days and I've not had a problem. I also have Fios and previously I could only preview without any trouble on my IPad....Why would I be able to preview w/o any trouble on my IPad but have trouble on my computer--they're both pointed to the same internet connection in my house...and since changing those DNS numbers I'm good to go....so could it be an internet problem??? Just askin'.....maybe if everyone constantly complains to apple they'll do something.....again squeaky wheel and power in numbers and all that....customer service was nooooooo help to me but when I called corporate office and insisted on speaking with supervisor and higher up folks I finally found someone to help me....just sayin'

Aug 19, 2012 2:21 PM in response to cjhedrickby Ketzel,I think its great that power cycling worked for some people and changing the dns numbers worked for some people and getting a good night's sleep and trying again worked for some people, too. But if this really was caused by a verizon glitch, it seems to me that the fix would work for everyone. Since we also see comcast users with the same complaint, and verizon users who say the suggested fixes don't work, I'm still inclined to think this is Apple's issue.

Aug 19, 2012 3:00 PM in response to Ketzelby Andro28,This is not limited to Verizon. Where I live, FIOS is not available yet and I am using Time Warner Cable. I had the same issues that everyone else had before somehow fixing it by following many of the steps previosuly outlined.
