Q: iTunes song preview time is cutting off.

I have the same issue. I have narrowed it down to my firewall. I have McAfee total protection. When I turn off my firewall the previews work fine but as soon as I turn it back on they cut off after a few seconds. I have checked the firewall settings and iTunes has full access.

I don't think so. I use Norton and disabling the firewall and/or the antivirus have no effect on the iTunes problem.

I tried this solution, but when I right click on the itunes folder I don't Compatibility tab.  Can you explain?

Right click on itunes icon.

Click on properties.

There you will see various tabs.  Click on Compatibility tab.

Doesn't work. Yet another failed attempt for me. Guess Apple won't be getting any money from me for music til they fix this.

Glad your solution helped you! Unfortunately, i'm still on Windows XP, and when I check "compatibility mode" it only lists previous and more outdated OS systems like Windows 98. I'm still totally bewildered that this has been going on for months and iTunes still doesn't have a fix for this yet. I guess this hasn't cut into its profit margin enough lol.

I have had this issue for a couple of weeks now.  I can only listen to song previews for about 7 secs.  Is there not any fix to this yet?

Did this really work for u permanently, or just worked once and is now messed up again? I use Windows 7, set Compatibility to Windows 7 and problem came back.

Yes, this only worked like a charm once.  When I first changed it was like the old days and I could preview a song in quick view move around to other songs and preview played the entire 90 seconds.  I came back the next day and the old problem was back again....only 7-20 second preview play.  It is totally random.  I find that if a click on the song several times I can get it to play the whole preview length.  I also find if I leave the cursor precisely on the preview button I have a better chance of more of the preview playing.  I remain frustrated.  I have logged two separate issue emails with itunes support and haven't heard a word back.
