Aug 31, 2012 6:55 PM in response to cjhedrickby carocuth,Hello hello hello!!!!!!!!!
It's working again.
What I didn't have before: album pictures (instead of a blank page); ability to use the "Preview all" button (didn't work before); abillity to "save to wish list" (non-starter before)...
At random I chose an album using my desktop computer and 1 song played for 90 seconds, the others didn't. BUT - then I tried the same album using my laptop and it played through all 90-second previews.
Dare I get up tomorrow and try them both again?
Both computers run the same systems - yes, I'd tried pretty well all the fixes posted on this site, and none worked.
AND - my Blue Jays won tonight!!
It's all good. For now!

Sep 2, 2012 10:37 AM in response to barbpfby rfuller02,There is a simple test to determine if it's an iTunes issue or not. Go preview the same song on Amazon. If it plays fine there, then it's an iTunes issue. If it doesn't then it's most likely a networking issue. Try rebooting your firewall/router device as well as your cable/DLS/FIOS modem/firewall/router.
The instructions telling you to uninstall iTunes is just directions from tech support people who really have no diagnostic skills and know that you can't do all that while you are on the phone. That way they can reduce the average speed to answer (ASA) and average resolve time (ART) even though they've really done nothing.

Sep 2, 2012 11:57 AM in response to rfuller02by saltlab1,Same issue here, and with the fact that I can no longer buy gift cards through itunes (for no apparent reason), I have found the BEST SOLUTION = stop using itunes. Amazon works great!

Sep 3, 2012 8:16 AM in response to rfuller02by iEldersburg,I can preview full songs on all other sites. The issue is with itunes. Interestingly, I don't pay much attention to music videos, but thought I would give that a shot today. Unlike song preview, all music videos played the full preview. More indication that this is an itunes issue. If it was my computer or router/modem, I would think that a would get the same result on preview, regardless of what was being previewed on itunes.
It has been over a week since I logged complaint with itunes, and while they promised response in 48 hours, still not a word!

Sep 3, 2012 9:09 AM in response to iEldersburgby wooglin7,Fix this Apple! You are going to start losing long time customers including me. This is so annoying and it IS NOT your users internet connections. This has been a problem for way too long now. Do something already.

Sep 3, 2012 9:10 AM in response to cjhedrickby gvcoleman,As I said a few days ago, turning off my Avast virus checker solved my problem. I have tried it a few more times, and except for one little blip, that continues to work fo rme. But of course it makes me nervous. I have seen several references to something I think called DNS as a better fix, but I don't know what this is or how to do it. Perhaps someone can explain? [Note I have Verizon fios internet and email.]

Sep 3, 2012 9:26 AM in response to cjhedrickby DWM99,I am also having this problem and it is very annoying. Amazon.com preview works fine. Turning off firewalls and virus protection does not help. Come on Apple this is basic stuff.

Sep 3, 2012 10:14 AM in response to cjhedrickby seasons1960,On August 21st. I posted a message on this thread that I was having the same issue (see my post from August 21st) on three of my four computers, all connected to my network. I tried changing my DNS settings on one PC (that was not working) to Google's 8-8-8-8 and it seemed to fix the issue. (I never did change the other PCs)
I kept testing the song preview on this PC with the new DNS settings and it worked every time. Then about a week later, I decided to revert the DNS setting back to the original (automatic, no manual DNS) and expected the song preview to fail again. To my surprise, the song preview still worked and played songs for the entire preview.
I have been testing iTunes since and each time, it works. So go figure, after changing the DNS back to what I have had it for years (automatic) iTunes works. Another mystery to this entire puzzle.
All my PCs are connected to the same Router (D-Link DIR-655), same network and ISP (Comcast) and all use Norton AV. I have made no other changes to my settings or network.

Sep 3, 2012 10:14 PM in response to cjhedrickby Shelbo,This is clearly not an issue on ANYONE's computer end.
It's not your internet, it's not your java, it's not your firewall, it's not your anti-virus.
Even if it was any of those things, the fellas over at Apple need to figure out how to reach their entire fan base no matter what. You can't expect people to deal with all these issues just to use iTunes. It's absolutely ridiculous.
It has to be something wrong with their servers, or whatever it is.
I started having this problem back in like June I remember, and nothing I did could fix it.
Suddenly one day it started working perfectly fine, all the way up until a few days ago.
I didn't change a darn thing on my computer. Nothing.
It's clearly an issue with iTunes. Unfortunately we just have to wait until THEY believe that.

Sep 11, 2012 7:15 AM in response to AlanPKby dancepig,The best fix I've found for this problem is to go to Amazon or emusic.com to preview and or purchase music. Amazon, emusic.com and pandora work fine, how can it be my computer?
