Sep 11, 2012 7:22 AM in response to dancepigby barbpf,Yep -- that's the fix alright. Use Amazon. I actually was helped by the DNS settings fix. I had two computers at the time. One worked fine. One didn't. The one that didn't - I changed DNS settings and was doing great. But I now am using thenew comuter almost exclusively. No problem for months and now -- guess what - yep -- stopped working.
So Dylan's out today -- went to Amazon - previewed and PURCHASED and I saved $4.99. So bye bye iTunes. If there was an advantage to iTunes it was definitely ease of use. But that's gone. I can't spend time troubleshooting to download music.
More than anything -- I'm just so irritated that they simply refuse to acknowledge this thread no matter how many of us send them links about it.

Sep 11, 2012 9:36 AM in response to barbpfby The Beta Capsule,You're right barbpf, buying music should be a pleasurable experience, not a frustrating one. I know some people here are still buying from iTunes and just using Amazon as a song previewer. Their choice, but they're not making things better by spending there. As much as I like the iTunes ease of use I refuse to spend another dime there until they have resolved this situation. iTunes has much better integration then Amazon, but I'm now buying all my compressed music from Amazon until Apple resolves this. Again, buying music should be a nice experience, not a frustrating one.

Sep 11, 2012 9:41 AM in response to The Beta Capsuleby barbpf, thanks for bringing that up Beta!! . People -- if you're using Amazon to preview - BUY THERE. you're not helping get the message across to 'Apple if you keep giving them money!! I'd love to get this fixed and do everything with Itunes but until that happens, Amazon will get my dollars.

Sep 11, 2012 9:49 AM in response to barbpfby dancepig,Amazon is getting my money too. If I can't listen to the preview on ITunes, and I'm forced to go to another site to preview the music, I'll purchase my music there. And, if I purchase on Amazon, it's just as easy to move it to any where I want to listen to it as it is with ITunes, plus there' good customer service

Sep 11, 2012 10:08 AM in response to barbpfby iEldersburg,After having tried EVERY suggested fix in this and other discussion threads including DNS settings, flush cache, itunes compatibility settings, and many more, all without success, suddenly my preview song feature has started working. I went two days previewing any song that I wanted, just like the old days, without any issues. I was online again over the weekend previewing songs and I had one to two that cut off. On a second click the songs previewed completely. Not sure what changed!?! However, I am keeping my fingers crossed that my good fortune continues.

Sep 11, 2012 2:51 PM in response to iEldersburgby vincentfromwestford,I sent in my data today and an interesting finding that I think further tightens the noose around itunes -> previews do not randomly stop on my itouch which is on the same network as the desktop pc (which has changed very little and does exhibit the issue). I work in software so I don't plan to let them off the hook easily. Vinny

Sep 11, 2012 3:57 PM in response to barbpfby zzhill25,Problem resolved - switched to Amazon. If my time has a value, then this iTunes problem has no doubt cost me a fortune. Hundreds upon hundreds of postings here, people trying everything under the sun (many of which I've tried myself), repeating the same attempted fixes over and over with no resolution. I decided that I'm unlikely to be the one person who comes up with the solution, where hundreds have failed before me. Spent five minutes and viola! Amazon's many strengths are outlined elsewhere in this thread. Setup was surprisingly easy and their downloads work seamlessly with the iTunes library. Very happy with my present arrangement. Best of luck and goodbye to those choosing to remain mired in this iTunes purgatory.

Sep 11, 2012 4:19 PM in response to zzhill25by carocuth,In Canada, we are not able to use the Amazon service; and it is not offered by Amazon.ca. Fortunately for me, the preview issue seems to have been resolved with iTunes Canada. For now.

Sep 11, 2012 4:25 PM in response to carocuthby dancepig,If you don't have the option of purchasing music from Amazon.com in Canada, do you have emusic.com?

Sep 11, 2012 5:18 PM in response to dancepigby carocuth,Yes, BUT...I sent an e-mail request with a question about their service and never received a reply!!! This was about a month or so ago, so I am not too impressed with this bunch.
