    Hi

    short answer: No

Longer answer: Apple have discontinued Express, and any Express-Pro upgrade path.

    Yeah, but...

I have Logic 9 Express, and I would like to upgrade to 9 Pro as well (don't need Mainstage and all the other Logic Sudio Suite stuff).

What if you buy an upgrade (from Logic 9 Express to Logic 9 Pro) somewhere (online auction site, for example); will it work, and will that be supported by Apple?

The only option I see now from Apple is Logic Studio for $500 on the Apple website.  Is this really the only option now for Logic?  Other people have mentioned Logic Pro 9 from App store, but I don't see it.  Do they mean the App store thru iTunes online, or an Apple retail store...?

Thanks a lot for any help...

    Hi,

I don't know if a second hand Logic 9 Express upgrade to Pro is usable.

However, you can buy Logic Pro 9 at:

    rblaca,

Macs running OSX 10.6.6 or later have the App Store built into the OS and its icon can be found sitting on your Dock.  Launch it and you are taken to the App Store, where you can buy Logic Pro 9 for $199.99.

If you're still on OSX 10.5 you might consider upgrading to 10.6 for $29 and getting access to the App Store.

I just upgraded from Logic express with a new Logic Studio Upgrade from Ebay.  It was obviously older, but still sealed.  it worked flawlessly; I was able to install, update to the current rev of logic pro 9 (9.1.7) and open music created with express.

    Good suggestion - I just ordered one.   $99 - a bargain.

When Logic first went live in the App store these upgrades were still selling at pretty stiff prices.  I didn't know they had come down in price.

I've really wanted to integrate Sculpture into my work and to this point have only used it in Mainstage2 which I downloaded from the App store.

That kind of brings up a question: I have MS 2 as a separate App on my computer so I'm not sure how that will work...anyione have experience with that?

If no answers, when I get it in and install I'll let you know....

I can confirm $99 upgrade disc to Logic Studio worked flawlessly.

I just installed, then restarted, then asked App store for Software Updates and it updated me straight away to Logic Pro 9.1.7.  ALso easily the content I didn't get through app store version of MS2.

By the way, I have to tell you that Logic Pro sounds infinitely better right away due to Space Designer whihc is programmed on to many of the patches and samples you've already been using in LE.

And I mean the sound is like night and day...am kicking myself that I waited so long to update....but I guess I had to woait for the right price and $99 is it.

Of course, this also means Logic X will probably be out next week....lol. But, that said, I'm pretty happy with with finally having Pro 9 so even if X does come out, not going to ckick myself.  I have a very stable and pro level tool now and I'm not going to fret about what I don't ahve....

Ok, so I have Logic Express 9 ver 9.1.8 for an intel Mac. I have Mac OS 10.6.8 Are you saying I can order Logic Pro 9 on ebay and it will let me use all my existing files as well as open the world of Logic Pro and I won't have to buy the Pro program new? Or are you saying I need to order Logic Studio's current version, which is...2?

Just a question about this. I have a Logic 9 express installation (upgraded from Logic Express 7). I just purchased a Logic Studio 9 Upgrade From Express or Big Box.

Can I apply that upgrade to my existing Express Installation without any problem?

    ALl the best.

I can also verify that this path works.  I recently bought the Express to Pro upgrade from Ebay for $84 or something like that and ran the disks.  After completetion (quite a long time) I ran software update.  I successfully updated to Logic Pro 9.1.8 without any problems whatsoever.  Time to play with the new synths and space designer (along with other things).

Ok, everything went as expected. Reinstalled my machine and used the studio upgrade disks, program asked for upgrade serial then the original retail one for express.

Everything smooth. Upgraded to Logic 9.1.8, without problems.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

    Brand new here.

So you guy's upgraded from Logic Express 9 to Logic Pro 9 with a Studio 9 Upgrade with no issues?

I tried it and it asks me for my old serial # from the previous version that is alrready installed, which is Express 9 and when I enter it I get an error telling me it's not valid and then I can't install.

How did it go for you guy's and how did you get around this?

    Thanks
