I really don't want to lose the songs on my phone. Why does Apple have to be so difficult?

Why blame Apple because you didn't make a backup of your computer before you wiped your hard drive?

Restore the music from the backup you made of your computer before you wiped it. You did have the good sense to backup your data before you went and erased it, right?

My computer crashed and ate everything. I didn't have the opportunity to make a back up of my data before this happened. So no I didn't have the "good sense" to back up my music. I just want to keep my music that I added to my library that I didn't buy from Apple. Any help for a computer novice?
That's like saying 'my house caught fire and burned to the ground, so I didn't have the opportunity to purchase a fire extinguisher'.
The iPhone is not a backup device. You can purchase 3rd party software that 'may' be able to extract the music from your phone, but there is no supported method to get music that was not purchased from iTunes off of your phone and onto your computer.
I had to wipe my hard drive and re-install iTunes on my computer. I don't want to lose all of my old songs by syncing, many of which aren't available for purchase on iTunes, but it says i have to to manually manage music. How can I bypass this?
