my iphone died and now it wont charge or turn on. tried to power and home button but it didnt do anything

Connect to Wall Charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone begins to start. Can take about 20 seconds of holding both buttons while on charger.

What is supposed to happen when you do this, does it just turn on? Mine's not doing anything? thank you!

This was great! This is the second time this has happened. Is there something I can do to prevent it? Am I doing something wrong or is my battery running out of life? I don't really think it is my battery as it blacked out earlier in the day. Thanx again

I have done everything that has been suggested and it still wont turn on, its brand new. I do not understand why it is doing this, it literally was fine yesterday it died twice and then turned it self back on, but then it died and now what turn itself back on even though it says it is charging. it has been like that for a good 9 hours now.
