Q: my iPhone4S shows a USB cable needing to be connected to iTunes. I have tried rebooting computer, restarting phone, etc. How do I get iTunes to recognize my iPhone again? It is completely unusable presently!!! Help!

Help please! iPhone frozen on screen showing USB cable pointing to iTunes icon. Cannot get iTunes to recognize the phone. Have tried all the diagnostic tests which told me to reboot computer & restart phone, to no avail. I need this fixed asap & I am out of warranty too long to sign up for Apple Care. Hopefully someone out there can help! Thank you!!!

If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.
