Assuming your PowerBook meets Leopard requirements:

    • A Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or Power PC G4 (867 MHz or faster) processor
    • 512 MB memory or more
    • A DVD drive for installation
    • 9 GB of available disk space or more

You'll need to buy a retail OS X 10.5 disk. If you go to the used market, don't buy any gray-faced disks, as those are locked to the machine type they were delivered with, and 10.5 was never delivered with a PowerBook. You'll want the black-faced retail version, which Apple no longer sells. One source for unopened Apple software is http://www.hardcoremac.com

You probably know that by moving to 10.5 you'll lose the ability to run the OS X Classic environment, for earlier mac programs.
