Problems connecting to the iTunes Music Store usually stem from issues with the Windows firewall, a privacy filter (such as Mcafee) or a download accelerator. Start here:

iTunes for Windows: Overview of Music Store Errors

for some basic tips to start isolating the cause of the problem. Your ISP (or your network administrators if you're on a company network) may have also changed something that is now blocking access.

Hope this helps.

Sorry that didn't help. Let's see if we can narrow down the problem.

Do you have any firewall (other than the one built into Windows), privacy filter, or download/web accelerator on your system?

What happens if you type in http://itunes.com/version.xml in your web browser and hit return? This should give you a page of XML text in return. The content of the page isn't important, just whether or not you get it as the return.

Hi there,

I have this problem too, I don't really know much about firewalls and I'm scared of doing something wrong! I get the same error message and have done ever since I got this new computer, which meets the minimum standards required for itunes etc. I also get a page full of text when pasting that address mentioned above in my web browser.

Please help!

lzz99, if you want individual help (as opposed to just reading suggestions posted for ayn2ya) I'd suggest you start a new topic with your issue (use the "Post a new topic" link at the top of each main topic page). It's generally better to ask a question as a new topic rather than as a reply in someone else's thread. It's more courteous to the original poster, and is more likely to get your question the attention it deserves. It's very difficult to try and assist two different users in the same thread.
