The other day, I dropped my iPhone 4S and the screen side hit the ground. The screen shattered, with some of the cracks above the surface (I can feel them if I run my fingers over it) and some are actually under the glass, where I can't feel them but I see them. Everything still seems to work on the phone..the screen still responds to touch, internet, email, all the hardware stuff.

How should I go about fixing this? What's the most recent thing anyone has done for this type of problem? Should I take it to an Apple store or should I take it back to my carrier (verizon)? I do not have any warranty plans, except the one year limited warranty from Apple, which obviously doesn't cover accidental damage. I know I will have to pay, I just want to know what the best course of action would be?

Thanks anyone who responds!
