Hi...my powerbook G4 seems to have the speakers turned off and i can't turn them back on with the F3 key like normal. F3 thru F5 have a circle with a diag'l line thru it. i thought maybe it was the numbers lock F6 key, but that doesn't seem to change anything. does anyone know of something that might have gotten pushed that would turn the audio off, and how to turn it back on? thanks--betsy

PowerBook G4 (17-inch Double Layer SD), Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Do your resets:

PRAM:

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
  3. Turn on the computer.
  4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
  5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
  6. Release the keys.

If that doesn't fix it, reset PMU: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1431
