how can I print a list of folder and subfolders from the finder window? I want to reorganize the contents and it would be easier to look at a printed list. Please help. I have too many folder and subfolders to do it well from the computer alone.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder. At the prompt type "ls -1R " (spaces important). e.g.
> ls -1R
Now in the Finder, drag the folder that you want listed onto the Terminal window and press enter.
You can then click scroll and select the lines you want printed; followed by "Print Selection" in the Shell menu.
Use Print Window 4.1.2. It's a free application.
"Is - R" is not working. I've tried it several times. Different variations. I'm on Mac OS X. 10.6.8
Is it just one space between s and -?
I mean "Is - 1R" I did get that right
Did you drag a folder into the window. If "me" is my home folder, I get:
> ls -1R /Users/me

a beautiful solution, perhaps also the best and easiest, is drag the folder from finder to a firefox window.
