My daughter locked up her ipad 2, how do I restore it?

Restarting your device

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Follow these steps to reset your device

Note: Reset your device only if it is no longer responding and the steps above do not work.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

First you hold the power button until you see slide to power off then you hold the power and the home button after plug your iPad in your computer after that launch iTunes and then you will see a Message iPad is in recovery mode finally click restore if you get an update then click update and restore and that's it! You're done!
