There are no viruses in a non-jailbroken iphone. You say advertisements are displayed - is this within an app or do they pop up on the desktop?

If you make sure that all your apps are shutoof and the problem still persists, you will most likely need to restore. You can try to delete your last installed apps and see if that helps. Other than that it will need to be a full restore, not a restore form backup because that will probably carry the problem over.
P.S. pvonk you are wrong, iDevices can get viruses, even non-jailbroken ones.
