how to manually set IP on ipad, getting 169...

Hi, I can't connect to the internet via wifi on my ipad2. I'm getting a 169. error IP address instead. I've tried turning the router and ipad on and off, resetting network, brightness etc. How can I set IP manually? This I know would work if only I could manually change it....help!

other devices, we have about ten, all connect to the wifi router (airport exp), but occasionally one of them gets the 169. right now it's me.

my ipad connects fine to other networks.

I had the same problem with a laptop this morning and just manually set the TCP/IP and it was fine. But I can't seem to get a manual option for setting the IP address on my ipad!

Sounds like your your routers Dynamic IP range needs to be extended.

In spite of that, you can specify your IP address by going to Settings > WiiiFi and tap the > symbol next to the network name you want to connect to. Then tap the "Static" tab. Enter the IP address you want. Enter the Subnet Mask (should be 255.255.255.0). Enter the Router address (should be something like (192.168.1.1). Enter the DNS address (should be the same as the router address, unless your ISP provided you another address).
