Anyone have problems with their L-shaped Magsafe?

Magsafe basicaly melted the rubber cord. Adapter continued to work for a whole month and now just died on me. Anyone have this problem? I asked the Apple Store about it and they said their power adapter replacement only covers the old T-shaped battery.
