There's a game I like to play that is like Boggle.  The website is:

I sign in as usual and go to the game and get this error notice:

At first I thought the site was down but my husband is able to play on his Windows XP computer.  I tried using Safari, Firefox and Chrome and get the same response.  This only happened after the latest security update so I'm wondering if there is some setting I need to change.  Does anyone have any ideas?

My computer is an iMac OS X 10.6.8

I don't have virus software that would prevent it from running.  I'd appreciate it if someone can help me figure out how to fix this problem.

    Hello Krabitha,

The only thing you need to be able to play these games is a modern browser with flash and javascript!

But I'm wondering if it actually requires Java also, which was turned off for safety in recent updates.

Hmmm.  I checked both Safari and Chrome and they have the right settings.  I even went to Safari and turned off pop-up blocking and I still can't get the game to work.

I also repaired disk permissions just in case.

I hate to be a dummy, but I still can't get it to work.  I even went to the java website and it said my java plug in was working properly.  I am puzzled.  If you have any more ideas, please let me know because I am completely at a loss here.  I will shut my computer down on the off chance of whatever and see if that helps.

Thanks for trying to help but so far, no luck!

Does that site have any free games that don't require signing up so I might see what's what?

Are you sure their Server isn't having problems?

I think this is a Java problem.  I went to Firefox and Mozilla home page and checked to see that my plug ins were up to date.  Firefox said it had turned off my Java because it was not up to date.  When I went to the Java page to update it, it only said Mac has its own Java updates and suggested I update through Apple.  Unfortunately, when I checked to see if Apple has any updates for my Java, there weren't any.

After seeing that, I went to the link it had for "upgrade to the latest version" and this is what Java says:

I guess I will look for Java help on the support pages here and see if anyone has any info.

Did you re-nable Java here in Safari?

It shows disabled at that link, but if you really need it then put a checkmark there.

Yes I'm sure they are up and running.  My husband is running windows xp on a computer sitting right next to mine and he isn't having any trouble at all.

I downloaded the java update from the apple site and enabled it and that still didn't work.  I went to try to play the game on Firefox and got an error message this time that said the following:

That my Adobe Flash player crashed.

Yes, I checked to see that Java is enabled in Safari.  It seems weird that none of the three browsers will work with the site.

I think you have to sign up for an account to play there but if I remember correctly, you can put in a fake email address and it will work, at least for one game.  Everything works until I try to go into a room to play the boggle game.

It doesn't cost anything to play that game by the way.

I just went to the site on my macbook which I have not yet updated with the latest updates and the site works perfectly fine on my MacBook.  Which makes me feel hesitant to update it with the latest Apple updates.

Since it is working fine on my non-updated MacBook, is there anyway I can figure out where to look to see what settings might be changed?  I'm using Chrome for the default on both computers but I can use any browser on the Macbook without any trouble, but none work here on the iMac.

Is there any Port Forwarding or DMZ setup in the Router?

If nothing else is connected can it play?

  • krabitha Level 1 (0 points)

I am assuming that since I don't even know what that means that the answer is no...about port forwarding and DMZ.

By nothing else connected, do you mean, like disconnect peripherals like an external DVD player?

The windows computer can play.  And my MacBook can play.  The game isn't like a big huge role playing multi-player set up or anything like that, it's just a simple boggle game.  It's the only game on the site.  It's free, it's small platform I believe.

Is Java Script enabled in your Browser?

  • krabitha Level 1 (0 points)

I have Java enabled but I don't see anything that says Java Script.  Is that the same thing?
