Q: Access Privileges "Fetching..." problem

I'm experiencing the "Fetching..." problem (also mentioned in the general Mac OS X Lion forum). I granted the group "Freelancers" read&write permission to the folder (also a share point) using Server.app. Server.app interface suggests the permissions have been applied however Finder simply indicates "Fetching...". The folder is being shared Mac OS 10.7.4 Server via AFP and SMB protocols. Users of that particular group are not able to access the folder via AFP or SMB.

It isn't clear to me if it is a problem with file services (AFP and SMB) or Open Directory.

Very frustrating.

    Hi Samm,

Just saw your post, after I had posted mine:

Did you have any luck solving this problem?  I'm experiencing it with Mavericks.

I was wondering if it was an OD or file services problem as well.  I've used SMB for the first time to share home directories.  The problem is it happens on the server as well, with direct access to the files.

As I mention in my post, there seems to be a disconnect between what Unix is saying (everything looks fine and is accessible) and what the Finder reports (Fetching...) and can do - no permissions etc.

Very sad to hear that this problem was around in the middle of 2012 and seems to still be popping up all over the place without anything I can see official from Apple.

If you have any wisdom I'd be grateful to hear it.

    Cheers,

    Ashley.
