Why do I see icons instead of pictures?

When I go home>pictures>i-Photo library, many of my photos appear as icons, not pictures.

Similarly using i-Photo, when I export from Library to a file on the desktop, some shots appear not as pictures but icons.

What is wrong? How can I move pictures from Library to a desktop file?

Hi George,
If you have edited the photo in another program, it might just have the generic icon. Most programs give you the option to save with an icon Preview, so check the prefs of the other programs.
If you navigate through the Finder, make sure you have "column view" set and make sure you have View>show view options (in the menu bar), check off "show icon preview"
If you still can't view the icon preview for some photos you can use third party programs.
there are many third party programs that can do this for you. One is called Pic2Icon

Another one is a contextual menu item called QuickImageCM.

QuickImageCM
check out that page because there are some other useful contextual menu items that I use all the time.

Part of my problem is solved. To move photos to a desktop file your suggestion I use another application has solved that one. I use Graphic converter.

However it is a nuisance that when I go to the dated files in the library I mostly see icons. These are the i_Photo icons, not those of another application. There has not been a rush of replies to my question on either this discussion board or on my user group bulletin board; so I imagine that I must have deviated from standard practice somewhere.
