Put 10.6 on a 10.7 machine

My old 10.6 machine require too many expensive fixes so I bought a new macbookpro recently with 10.7. Two of my crucial apps don't work on 10.7 and I have not been able to find acceptable fixes for them. Is it possible to remove 10.7 from this machine and install 10.6?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Using the old computer, install Mac OS X 10.6 onto an external drive and update that to 10.6.8. Plug that drive into the new computer, start up the new computer with the Option key held down, tab to it, and see if it works. If it does, use the external drive instead of the internal one. If it doesn't, including cases when the computer only produces three beeps at startup, no.
