New iMac. How do I get my music from iPod to new iMac?

my imac 2.4 core2duo died. i immediately bought a new 21.5" 2.8 i7 iMac. The only thing I regretted was that I lost my music catalog - imported from PC to the first iMac and added to, this included the napster hey day stuf too.

I just realized that all that old stuff is also on an old iPod that i have (how I transferred the music to the iMac 2.4 in the first place.

How do I get this music into the new 21.5" iMac? The iTunes on the new computer allows me to play it from the iPod, but not move it into the iMac.

Thanks,

John

How to transfer music from an iPod to a Mac computer

Step 1: Connect your iPod and launch iTunes. In the iPod management screen, scroll down to Options and check "Enable disk use". iTunes will give you a warning — select OK.

Step 2: Open My Computer and open your iPod drive.

Step 3: Open Tools > Folder Options. Click the View tab and check "Show hidden files and folders".

Step 4: In your iPod folder, open iPod_Controls > Music. Highlight all of the folders and drag them into the desired folder on your hard drive. This might take a while, depending on how much music you're transferring.

Step 5: Highlight all of the folders again, right-click and select Properties. Uncheck "Hidden". Close this window.

Hope my answer will give you help.

If you purchased music off from your ipod itunes music store, you can simply transfer purchases. Connect your ipod to your new MBP, right click on your device and transfer purchases.

Another option: There are third party program that does allow you to transfer your music from your ipod to your computer.

Try "iPod to Mac". It's not free, but it works very well. Copies everything - music, playlists, movies, tones, etc. to your Mac and sets it all up automatically in iTunes.

I happen to have a method to help you solve this question. You can use MobiKin Assistant for iOS (Mac Version) to transfer music from iPod to your iMac. It work well. Whst's more, you can get other data from iOS device to Mac, such as backup contacts, text messages, media files, etc to Mac from iPhone device. There are some steps to move music from iPod to iMac

Step 1: Download, install and run the program on iMac

First, you need to install iTunes to your iMac. Then connect iPod to iMac through USB data cale. The program will automatic detected and scan your iPod device.

Step 2: Preview and choose music as you need

Click "Music" to preview and choose music as you need. There is a quickly search function. You can find the target music by the function. Wait to export.

Step 3: Export music from iPod to iMac

Click "Export" button to export and save music from iPod to iMac. Besides, you can also export all music by click "File" --> "Export all music". That's all. Hope this helps!

Did you ever use a third-party tool to solve this problem? I had this problem either. I found and solve my problem with the help of a third-party program. Maybe you can try it. Plug your iPod into Mac after installing the software. Then wait a minute and choose songs you want to back up and click "Export" to begin copying music. Besides, some useful tips for you to refer to:
