Using Dell with Vista. Previously supported multiple devices (Nano, iTouch, Shuffle). Recently switched firewall from Online Armor to Windows Firewall and AVG free antivirus to ESET. Now I get "Connection attempt to firmware update server was unsuccessful" issue.

Replaced hosts.txt file.

Ensured that Windows Firewall allows iTunes program.

Ensure that ESET NOT 32 allows all iTunes urls and iTunes directories are not being scanned by antivirus.

Not using proxy...
