Q: When I try to connect the camera using the camera kit (micro sd card camera so using the usb bit) it says on ipad 'accessory requires too much power' so can't use it! how do i transfer pics from my samsung camera in this case? (ipad2)
I am trying to get the photos from my digital camera (samsung with a microsd card). I bought the kit from apple shop which has a dongle thing to accept SD Card (ok for my other camera but not the one I want) so tried using the usb connector part of the kit. This failed telling me the accessory needed too much power! Tried charging ipad fully same result..... does anyone know how I can sort this ? please!!!! (PS it's a ipad2)

I have two different USB multiple camera card readers. Neither works with the camera connection kit.
You need the SD adapter that you plug the micro-SD card into. Then you plug the adapter/card assembly into the CCK.
If you can't get anything to work, transfer the photos to your computer. Then you can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)
Cheers, Tom
