"Music" doesn't work, please help.

Can someone tell my why my Music Icon doesn't work? When I click on it, it starts to load and then disappears.

You may have a corrupt song in the app. It's hard to say what the problem is. Try the basic things first. Quit the app and restart. If that doesn't work, try rebooting the iPad.

Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus ➖ sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

You can't edit the posts using Safari. I use iCab mobile identified as a desktop browser and I can edit the posts on this site. Frankly, I think Safari is a rudimentary "down and dirty" browser with very limited functionality - but that is a different issue.

The music app is crashing on you for some reason. I think it may be a corrupt music file that is causing it. How do you get your music onto the iPad? Do you sync with iTunes? Is your music downloaded directly onto the device?

Is it a combination of both?

I don't like Safari either. I use Firefox on my computers but have to use Safari on my iPad (the others don't work too well....if you know of a good one, let me know :)

When I buy a song on iTunes it automatically downloads it to my other computer but I think it takes syncing to get the songs onto my iPad. At least that's what I do, I just sync. I've never checked to see if it downloaded automatically before. I know the iCloud has really messed me up before, I've disabled it from my email. But it may still be working on my iTunes songs. So far I hate the iCloud.

If you buy a song on the iPad it downloads to the Music app automatically. If it also downloads to iTunes on your computer that is because you have automatic downloads enabled in iTunes on your computer. There is no reason to sync with iTunes - on order to get the songs onto the iPad - if you download them directly onto the iPad.

So - when you buy songs - are you doing that in iTunes on the computer or in iTunes on the iPad?

What I meant was the download went bad for some reason .....

I'm not sure why the Music App is crashing if there isn't a corrupt file/song in the app. I don't know how you categorize your music in iTunes when you sync, but you could try removing all of the music and then slowly sync the content back onto the device. If you use albums or playlists, sync one album or playlist at a time back to the iPad. See if the music app will work. If it does, sync another one, just keep repeating the process until the app crashes again. Then you will know it was the last album or playlist that you synced.

It is somewhat of a tedious process but it could help you solve the problem - if that is what is causing the problem.

You are using the same Apple ID on the iPad that you are using in iTunes on your Mac aren't you?

I assume that you are in the purchased tab of iTunes, The cloud icon means that you can download the song again. All of the purchased songs should have the cloud icon next to them.

Tap on the button at the top that says - Not on This iPad and see which songs show up. If a song shows up that is not on the iPad, download it and see if the Music App will work after that.

Also....the iCloud gives me grief on my email but I can't seem to receive email unless it comes thru the iCloud. All the songs in my iTunes Icon also seem to be in the iCloud. Is there a way to just get rid of this iCloud....which is another whole ID and password issue. Apple made me create another ID and password just for the iCloud.

If you turned on Mail in iCloud - I think you are correct - but I do not use Mail in iCloud. I don't need any more ways to access my email than I already have.

They are. That is why you see the cloud icon next to the songs in iTunes.

You can delete the account from the iPad, but before I would do that, you might want to contact Apple for help. You may have gotten into an ID snafu that only they can solve.

In your earlier post you mentioned that this whole thing might be an Apple ID issue - it just might be that. Before you do anything else - make sure that you are signed into the correct ID - your iTunes ID - and then see if the songs will sync and work for you.

I still think that the app is crashing but it could be that the ID issues is the problem. Settings>Store>Apple ID. Make sure that your ID there matches your iTunes ID on the computer.

Tell me this....if I actually 'delete' my iCloud account, will it then supposedly revert to only downloading my music manually with a sync, which would be just fine with me? I'm a little timid about deleting my iCloud account for fear that then I won't be able to get my email anymore. I know that doesn't make sense but I've found that the iCloud doesn't make sense and is just messing me up.
