Ibooks author lost my index.xml file and I lost 4 days work since save a version does not make a backup copy like Pages. How can I get it back?

Apparently IBooks Author has a tendency to completely loose the index.xml file rendering everything done on a book useless.

I tried as suggested on a forum, to change the file name to a.zip and then unzip it but to no avail although it worked for some people.

Unlike Pages when I save "save a version" of a book it does not make a backup copy.

There are some forums that have discussed this apparent bug.

Loosing 4 days work is not fun.

I suspect that it does not matter whether IBA runs on a desktop or a laptop, but I don't know everything, and I was hoping that you might know something I don't and might be willing to share it. But, apparently not.

You're not capable of knowing if you are using a desktop or laptop?

That's a rather insulting question, don't you think? Instead of asking leading questions, why don't you just simply say "well, if it's a laptop, the problem might this whereas, if it's a desktop, the problem might be that"?

At any rate, my take on the situation is that it doesn't matter whether it's a laptop or a desktop. If you disagree, I'd love to hear why it might matter, and I'll be happy to stand corrected.
