I have a new iPad and I'm just wondering if I should buy a screen protector. I mean I'm pretty careful og my iPad I have a smart cover and a back cover to protect my iPad so is a screen protector needed? Any help woud be appreciated.

Its definitely a user preference thing. I have one on mine and love it, while others never have had one and never want one.

I think the one thing to consider...how do you use it? Just you in the living room where it stays in the house? Or do you toss it in your bag and carry it around with others possibly using it?

If you're in situations where you could damage it, then it may be a good idea. But if you're never out of the house, then you may be okay.

For me? It's a $500 investment and I want to protect it and keep it in good shape for as long as I can....so it's never anywhere 'naked', both front and back. But I also toss mine in my backpack and carry it around.

I take really good care of my devices. I had iPad 2 for over a year and it started life with me with a screen protector, but I truly didn't like it and I removed it within a week. When I sold it for New iPad, it had zero scratches. I didn't even think about putting a screen protector on my new iPad. My iPhone 4 is now two years old and it too has no screen protector and zero scratches. Both my iPad and iPhone are in protective cases.

Like Skydiver said, it's a personal choice. With the experience I've had, the choice was simple to not have a screen protector on iPad or iPhone.
