Do I still need 3 versions of each movie 1) Computer 2) Apple TV 3) iPod?

Not sure the best format to import movies into iTunes (not from the store) but do I still need to have a version for

1) The computer

2) Apple TV

3) iPod

and is there a way to sort or filter these 3 types in iTunes or Apple TV?
