Above the earpiece is the proximity sensor which is used to detect when the iphone is near your face. The proximity sensor can look like a red light that isn't lit. If it is a lit red light, then I have no idea what it could be.

May 27, 2012 2:05 PM in response to aakosuaby stevejobsfan0123,I'm not sure exactly where you see it, but it could be the liquid sensor, indicating that the phone suffered from liquid damage, which would explain why it doesn't turn on.

May 27, 2012 2:08 PM in response to aakosuaby Jvego13,Yes, it is the proximity sensor and and doesn have anyting to do with your problem , try rebooting your phone by pressing the home button and the thenpower button atnthe same time for a ten seconds until it restarts, if doesn't do anyting, maybe are out of battery leave charging for a time maybe this fix your problem

May 27, 2012 2:50 PM in response to aakosuaby Jvego13,Dont worry about it , the red light isnt your problem, the red light is the proximity sensor and solves with a updating, if your iphone doesnt turn on is another thing.

May 27, 2012 3:12 PM in response to aakosuaby aakosua,ok good but ive tried everything nd my phone still doesnt turn on. todat it showed that the phone was dead but when i plug it into my computer nothing happens. Even when i plug it in the wall socket i get nothing. i've tried resetting it and everthing.

May 27, 2012 3:33 PM in response to aakosuaby Jvego13,I have a similar problem once , try to leave charging for a few ours on the wall socket then try again to reset thing, if nothing happens maybe is time to go with the technical service :(

AT the left of the earpoece, you jave the sensor but if you look at it, you can see a lil red light !
