iPod 5th gen not recognized even in disk mode
My pre-classic iPod does not show up in iTunes even when in disk mode. I'm trying to restore it. It does show up on the desktop. Any suggestions?

Try a low level reformat of the device's hard drive using Disk Utility. See this article for instructions.
