Q: my macbook pro just went completely dark.  I tried turning it off and then on again.  It goes on, I can hear the opening music and the light on the cap lock is lite but the screen is black.  It is fully charged. Please help!

You supplied no system information what-so-ever. So there is no way of telling if this applies to you - MacBook Pro: Distorted video or no video issues .  The affected computers  were manufactured between approximately May 2007 and September 2008.

If you are still under warranty or have Apple Care, call them.  Otherwise, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

Safari is a browser, not an operation system.   Snow Leopard and Lion are operation systems.  Which one do you have?

Take it in to the nearest Apple store genius bar and have them diagnose the problem.  If a repair is needed you will be informed of what it entails, including costs if any.
