how to add an item such as the date icon to my dock?
how do I add the icon for the time back to my dock? I can't seem to figure this out.

I use the free version of Menu Calendar Clock http://www.objectpark.net/mcc.html It shows the Day, Time and Date in the Menu. Click on the Date & you get a drop-down calendar.
