There is no FaceTime Icon. It is accessed by way of the Contacts app.
Stedman is right. There is no FaceTime app on iPhone. Use the Phone or Contacts apps instead.
Research as soon as I posted. Sorry about that. Good to go!
Thanks!
Seriously? 😮 Wow... epic fail, Apple.

What is the huge failure that causes you to resurrect a thread that's been dead since May?

Oh, just that I got my iPhone 5 and was dissappointed to discover that there is no FaceTime App icon. To use FaceTime you have to follow a ridiculous sequence of unintuitive actions first. The "epic" failure (you mistakenly wrote "huge failure" but that is a massive understatement given these circumstances, plus it doesn't capitalize on the popular coloquialism which most people accept as vernacular.) is that of basic design principles. As an expert in UX and interface design, I am personally appalled at such a violation.
No, "huge" was not a mistake. I find the phrase "epic failure" to be ridiculous and something primarily used by teenagers with no sense of perspective. I do not use it.
As an actual user, I find the idea of an additional app to make calls redundant. If I'm going to make a call, I make it from the Phone app, of which Contacts is a part. The true joy of FaceTime over other video calling apps such as Skype or Tango is its tight integration into the phone. Pulling it out into a separate app, while understandable on the iPad and the iPod Touch which have no Phone app, diminishes that. In my opinion, Apple got it precisely right.
Should you wish to apprise Apple of your opinion, use the Feedback page:
Best of luck.

lol Seriously? wow epic fail ^^^^^^^^^^
I really hope you're getting paid to haunt these forums. Did you forget the part where you're simply a fanboy and I am an expert in User Experience, Interface Design, and usability? Look kid, you lost this one, but don't give up OK? Everyone can see above how devoted you are to Apple. We get it. It's just a company that makes gadgets. This latest one is a kinda cool, but... a bit disappointing in several aspects. This is one of them. They really blew it here. It can only be classified as "Epic Fail". Get over it. They'll fix it in the next update.

Talk about hubris! The fact that you are an "expert" means I'm not entitled to my opinion? If, as an "expert in User Experience" you ignore the opinions of users, then I question how much of an expert you actually are.
I don't know the reasons for removing the FaceTime icon, but I don't know why you think it's so unintuitive having to go to the contacts app. You would go to the contacts app to call someone, so why not FaceTime?
Ah yes, the classic calling somebody a fanboy copout when you have nothing valid to say. 😉
same problem 😟
