Trying to add AirportExpress to extend (boost) my signal....but...

When i first pulgged it in and used Airport Utility, it said that there was a config error...so I did a hard restart a few times. I did everything include try to config with a hard wired connection. NOW, when i plug in the express, it flashes Amber rapidly then just seems to shut off. I am done here?
