I had same problem.
After installing, respectively Mountain Lion and Lion, the same error came again in both instalations. I tryed to replace the hard disk, and installed again, but the same error came up.
BUT now have two days running with Windows 8 on it and it run perfectly. I installed from boot camp and has not opened OX again. 🙂
So it is quite obvious that Apple has fixed it well enough. Windows cant haddel hardware issue better.
Your MBP may have GPU issues. Take it to an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation.
