Editing

Hello All,

I am editing a video and have seen this concept done several times but I am not sure the best way to carry it out. The effect I am trying to achieve begins at the 0:08 second mark and occurs randomly throughout the video.. It seems as tho they have layered a clip over the video and adjusted the opacity of the overlaying clip, however I am not sure of the proper way to carry this effect out... Its where there are random letters or numbers that come up randomly throughout the video. Sorry if my explanation isnt the best but I am not sure how to carry this out. I just want to add this visual element to my video, I like the rawness of it

Basically I am trying to find a site or a suggestion as to how I can get the random letters, words and numbers to overlay on my video? I also like how the editor uses different textures to overlay on this video as well. PLEASE HELP as I have a deadline approaching soon.

David,

Thank you for your input, greatly appreciated. However I have one more question for you, at the moment I cannot afford to purchase that plug in so i went to youtube to see if anyone had the effect as a free download, i was able to find a link but when I download it comes with a black background, which is something I can't lay over the video I shot. I was looking for something with the text and numbers with no background... any suggestions?

Thank you again.

Yes you can. Apply a composite mode to the upper clip to eliminate the black background. It will also help to adjust the upper clip's opacity to suit your needs.

ps: FWIW, you have posted on a publicly accessible forum so you should expect that some replies won't be relevant to your post ... some might even seem offensive at first glance. A thick skin helps. 😉

Hey Saidoh, don't get your panties in a bunch. You don't need to get all snippety about your thread. Relax, read the stuff in this community forum, and take from it what is beneficial to you and disregard what is not. There is oodles and oodles of wise advice that is offered freely here, and with it sometimes comes some humor -- or at least attempts at humor. My initial comment about your subject line, by the way, was actually meant to be helpful; making your subject line more specific makes it easier for people to attend to your issue.

Hi ann,

All is good, I wasn't being snippety, hence the smiley face and have a good day at the end of my comment 😉. I appreciate the helpful feedback but find the "attempts at humor" pointless. As far as my subject line, thank you... I will take that into consideration for my next post. Again much appreciation to everyone who took the time to read my thread and offer USEFUL tips... THANK YOU

Have a great/blessed day all!🙂
