No, using your iPad while it's connected to the battery does no harm. It's only an inconvenience to have it connected to a cord while using it.

I generally use my iPad while it's running on its battery and charge it either overnight or while not using it. But sometimes when the battery is getting low ill connect it to the charger. This does not harm the battery in any way.

The most efficient and best way to charge your iPad is to use the charger that came with the iPad.

No, you will not hurt it. You can have it plugged in and use it at the same time. Be aware that, if you are using a very graphics intensive game, the iPad probably won't charge. I've got my iPad sitting next to me on my desk, plugged in and streaming music over BT speakers. Best thing ever!

Best practice with a lithium ion battery is to charge it when you need to and, once a month, let it run down until it turns itself off and then charge it completely. This calibrates the battery sensor. If you don't do it, it won't hurt the battery.

I charge my iPad battery every single night. I start off the day with a full 100% charge when I leave for work. I use my iPad all day long at work - I'm using it right now in fact. Typically, my iPad will be at about 25% battery level when I leave to go home (about 8 or 9 hours total use at work). I plug into the charger as soon as I get home.

After dinner or after whatever I have to do after that, I will retire to my "man cave" and I continue to use my iPad while it is charging.

I have done this with both of my iPads since day one. I get about 10 hours a day out of a full charge and many days even a bit more than that.

Never had a problem with the battery on either iPad.
