Apple Bought Out Redmatica

Apple has bought out an Italian company, Redmatica, reports say. The news was broken a local blog, which also obtained a document supporting the claim from the country's communications regulator, AGCOM. Neither Apple nor Redmatica have confirmed the deal, although Apple rarely makes any announcements about the acquisitions of smaller firms.

Apple could want Redmatica's staff and/or technology to improve the quality of its own music software, especially Logic Pro; the software has languished in recent years with very few updates, making it hard for Apple to compete with alternatives like Pro Tools or Ableton Live.

Interesting news, I wonder if Redmatica's technology will make it into the next major revision of Logic Pro.

I have a bad feeling about this. Improvements to Logic would be great. But killing off Keymap and the other apps would be horrible, they are used all the time for creating Kontakt libraries.

I don't really see what their strategy is here, the obvious thing would be improved EXS support but that format has fizzled out as Apple let it languish the last few years.

You believe that hiring a single guy who created some really nice apps to manage sample libraries will make Apple change their plans for Logic X? Really?

My personal guess is: the developer wanted to have a solid job at a big company with a regular income and Apple wanted him, because he is really talented and working in a field that fits very nicely.
