I purchased a couple songs while away from home on another authorized computer, logged into my account. Now that I am home, I cant download them to my home computer? they do not show in purchased songs. I see them in my account manager as purchased today, so, if I bought them, why can't I download them to another Authorized computer? We are allowed 5, UGH!

There is currently a problem with the stores - there are a number of other posts from people whose purchased lists are showing as empty (both my iTunes and Mac App stores are empty).
OK, so normally I SHOULD be able to download songs purchased on a different computer than I actually purchased from? as long as it is authorized? This is my first time posting in these forums, I hadnt seen the other posts just yet, just wrote my query and left! 🙂
You can re-download music in a number of countries - I don't know whether you are in one of those countries, but this page lists what can (normally) be re-download where. If you aren't in one of those countries then you should be able to copy it from one computer to another e.g. via a USB stick, external drive, or your Nano (File > Transfer Purchases).
But it's always a good idea to have your own backup of any content as even if you can currently re-download it there is no guarantee that it will remain available in the store for future re-downloads.

USA, yeah, Ill get it onto my flashdrive tomorrow too. I just thought if there was a record of the purchase on my account I should be able to pull it into this computer. I didnt send it to the ipod cause I didnt want to sync from that computer and lose other music and dragging the song to the ipod itself didnt work today? Technology is wonderful! Everytime I think Im starting to get it, I find that I dont so much, lol!

As you are in the US then you should be able to re-download them, and my purchased list has re-appeared so I assume that that problem has been fixed - but a backup is always a good idea.
