I am unable to add new bookmark folders in Safari. I am running MacOS 10.7.4 and Safari 5.1.7. I add a bookmark folder and then close and restart Safari and it isn't there. I have removed the bookmarks.plist and the com.apple.safari plist from the library and that has not solved the problem. I've also repaired the disk permissions. Advice?

Hi...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, try this...
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
See if that made a difference.
Are you synchronizing your bookmarks with iCloud, or in any other way?
If you deleted the bookmarks.plist file, you should have had no bookmarks at all when you relaunched Safari. Is that not what happened?

I emptied the cache and the cache.db was empty so there was nothing to move to the trash.
But, no impact.
Linc, I don't use Icloud, but my directories, at least most of them, are mounted from a server. I checked the ~/Library path and it is remotely mounted.
I guess I need to talk to my IT guys since it appears to be some type of problem with the mount unless there is something obvious that I've missed.
