XCode 3.2.6 compile errors don't disappear

When I fix compile errors and recompile a single C++ file, the error 'bubbles' inline in the source file for the fixed errors are remaining. It's very annoying but seems too obvious to be a bug - as a newbie to XCode I wondered if it's a case of user error?
