IMAC almost full..

I suggest you download and use OmniDiskSweeper. It will tell you the files and floders that was using the most disk space.

You need to free up at least three or four times that much disk space.

If you are consistent with most users you probably have large music, photography and movie libraries. Apple suggests moving those libraries to an external HD and explains how in:
