My Macbook Pro 7.1 (2010) won't boot up

First of all, I use Archlinux on it as my main OS. I have a habit of sleeping the computer rather than shutting it off.

  • So, I did sleep my laptop and wen't to sleep myself.
  • Next morning I observed that I cannot wake up the computer. That white LED keeps blinking saying that the computer is in sleep but I couldn't wake it up by opening the lid 3-4 times.
  • So, I decided to hold the power button for 10 seconds and force shut it off. After that the LED stopped blinking.
  • Now, I cannot power on the machine. I have tried opening/closing (well it's not required) the machine and pressing the power button but nothing helps.

Googling said me to try resetting the SMC. I tried pressing Shift-Control-Option-Poweroff button at the same time and releasing them. After that pressing the PowerOff button did no good. I got no feedback that something happened & the state of the computer is still the same. The laptop is practically dead except that it shows battery by pressing the small button on the left edge of it.

I have checked from the little button at the side for battery, It's almost a full charge so it's not the case of a dead battery. This is the first time my MBP has gone bad, what should I do?

My MBP is past it's Apple Care period 😟 What should I try now?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.5)
