Q: Embedding Helvetica Neue in epub

Hi,

i'm having some problems regarding Helvetica Neue embedding  in my publication (epub).

I usually export my epub  from Adobe InDesign CS5.5,  then if needed i correct all missing metatag

infos and other little issues with Sigil, in most of cases this is enough to create a validated epub

of my publications.

But this time i'm having troubles with Helvetica Neue, it doesn't load on my Apple devices (iPhone4, iPad, on iOS5.1.1)

Epub file is validated, the font is embedded (it is under Fonts folder inside .epub package),

i tried also to declare and check in CSS the parameter @font-faces with all its sub-parameters and it seems ok.

the font is correctly loaded if viewed on Adobe Digital Edition (mac desktop) or in another epub viewer.

In InDesign i tried also to load a different format/version of HelveticaNeue (.ttf, otf,linotype) and re-export epub but it didn't load

exactly as my first attempt with the default version of this font (loaded from system font folder).

What's wrong with HelveticaNeue?

Thanks for help!

    Helvetica Neue is one of the iOS built-in fonts. Maybe there is a problem with embedding fonts that don't need embedding?

    I would try to remove the embedding and just using the font. I would expect that to work.

    SOLVED.

    i add in META-INF an xml file "com.apple.ibooks.display-options.xml" with these lines of code:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

    <display_options>

    <platform name="*">

    <option name="specified-fonts">true</option>

    </platform>

    </display_options>

    Now i can embedd my fonts!

    thanks anyway
