you need to restart your computer. Hold Power button until it turns off, then press the Power button again.?!?

Hi guys, this is the second time when my mbp is doing this and it's a brand new mbp. I was editing some stuff in Adobe Premiere and kaboom!

There is something wrong with my computer?

Could be Adobe Premiere if it occurs in the same program.

Coud be OS X if it occurs elsewhere.

Could be one of your third party RAM modules is not good or seated correctly, dirty contacts.

Run a Rember extended test overnight with no other programs running

This is what is called a "Kernel Panic" - a serious error from which the system is unable to recover, thus forcing you to shutdown and start again.

Most of these are hardware related, so I suggest you run the machine's hardware tests and see if something happens. I once had a brand new mbp (in late 2006) that kernel panicked several times. Had it replaced by a new one, which was flawless. Since it is brand new, you may consider asking for a replacement.

If you're able to boot, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.

Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post "shutdownStall" or "hang" reports.

If you can't boot in the usual way, try a safe boot. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:

  1. Be sure your Mac is shut down.
  2. Press the power button.
  3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
  4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).

During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.

Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.

Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.

It's your third party 16 GB of RAM you installed, pretty sure. Classic symptoms.

Clean the contacts with contact cleaner. Reset the RAM and run it for awhile, it might be good enough.

Run the Rember extended test overnight it hopefully will catch it if it's the RAM modules itself.

You might have to go through a painful trial and error, process of elimination to find the culpit module resonsible and exchange it for a new one.

Return the factory RAM to the machine and test again. Hopefully it's not one of the slots themselves, that's a warranty call with Apple and/or a new machine/logicboard.

You will need to replace the factory RAM before taking it to Apple, they will just blame your RAM and not test it.
