Solved

All you need to do is go to: ~/Library/Preferences/ (⇧⌘G)

find and delete this plist: com.apple.archiveutility.plist

Restart your mac.

Try any zip, Enjoy!

P.S. Dont worry, system will generate new working plist as well 😉

Same issue, but I don't actually have a ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.archiveutility.plist file:

I download and unzip dozens of files every day, suddenly nothing will unzip. No security restrictions or weird files, just plain ole .zips.

Any suggestions?

That means the files are corrupt or in an unusual format. Post a link to a zip file you can't open.

That's a password-protected file. I don't know the password. What application are you trying to open it with?

Are you implying the password for the website is also the password for the zip file?

Yup, www.mp3boo.com is the password. Just tried stuffit and it worked with no problems.

Since I use Stuffit Deluxe I recommend you use The Unarchiver. Just tried that and it works too.

BetterZip works too.

See my updated post above (www.mp3boo.com is also the zip archive password too).

Because double clicking it to invoke Archive Utility doesn't support password protected zips.

Because I suspect the free version of Stuffit Expander which I assume you have may not either. I have Stuffit Deluxe.

Use The Unarchiver (it's free).

I deleted the file when you didn't respond. I'm not going to download it again. If you can't open it in the way suggested above, you're getting a corrupt download. Post if that happens.

If you are having trouble with any of my suggestions then your copy is corrupt. Its 110MB so the possibility is a bit higher something went wrong along the way. Download it again.

By the way, with any of the methods I suggested, did you even get a prompt for a password? It's definitely corrupted if you didn't.

Are you consistently unable to expand any zip archive?
