If you are choosing "iTunes" from the Share menu, you should be able to locate the shared files by navigating to your iPad within iTunes, select the Apps section, then scroll to the bottom where you will find a File Sharing section. Select iPhoto from the list of apps in the File Sharing table, and your shared journal will appear on the right as a downloadable folder of files. These files can then be used as you need.
Alternatively you can share straight to iCloud (online web based version), or as a slideshow on the ipad for presenting.
Let me know if you need further info.
Thanks,

Having a hard time navigating this sequence. My album appears on my iPad. However in iTunes (on the Mac), under devices, file sharing, apps, I see the iPhoto icon but there are no iPhoto documents indicating the presence of my album on the right side!
They will only appear on the right hand side in iTunes if you have first shared something to iTunes from within iPhoto on your iPad. For example, within a Journal, press the share button at the top right, then select iTunes. After it has finished generating its files, you will see them in iTunes.
