My iPod Nano is stuck in the lock mode (lock symbol is in upper left) and won't unlock. I have tried to reset it with no luck. What is the best way to resolve this issue? I have looked into restoring it but not sure if that is what to do yet. Wanted some more help prio to doing it.
I see I'm not the only one with an ipod that suddenly lapses into a coma and refuses to respond to all attempts to revive it. Have followed the 5R's without success and was hoping someone out there found a solution. If you've had to send it back, what was your experience?
If the lock symbol is on the upper left screen(next to the play/pause symbol) then that means that your iPod is on hold. Just move the hold switch to the left.(The hold switch is on top left of the iPod accross from the headphone plug in).
Hi, thanks for the answers but I have hooked it up to iTunes with no luck, everytime I move the unlock switch, nothing happens. I have tried everything to unlock it wiht no luck.
Any answers yest? I've just encountered the same problem. Nano is locked and can't even restore. please if anyone had experienced and solved this problem please help! I can't bear communting without my nano 😟
I've tried resetting the ipod, then I restored it to the factory settings with the ipod updater and nothing. I can access all the data on the ipod when it is synced to the pc but I can't get rid of the hold icon in the upper left corner.
I read all the support material and it didn't cover this so I'm trying this forum. You can't reset it if the hold icon is on for it won't recognize that you are pressing the buttons. I was really hoping that running the restore would fix the problem but oh well.
I sell ipods all the time and spend a fair amount of time troubleshooting for my customers but this one is beyond my current expertise. So please don't suggest that I reset the nano or restore to factory settings as I've already mentioned that several times:)
Ahh erm....apparently you didn't read that we had already reset, restored and it still didn't work... So you restored using version 1.0 (not 1.1) as was suggested?
And the software is available on apple.com. Very easy to find and no need to google No, version 1.0 is NOT available on Apple.com, which is why it was suggested to google it.
