I've found that some of the non-Adobe converters (and some of the free online converters) don't do such a good job as Acrobat Pro. If you want to try it out, you can download one of the free 30-day trial packages from Adobe that include Acrobat Pro X (such as Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard) and try it out for yourself. It won't cost you a thing to use for 30-days and each app is fully functional.

Just my 2¢... and if you want to get the best final product. Adobe also has an online service - Adobe CreatePDF - that will convert PDF to Word. I think that it's free for a one-off.

Good luck,

Clinton

Although it is a free software, as soon as you download it you will check that this tool is complete and useful and will not fail at achieving its purpose: to effectively convert your PDF into Word or TXT documents. This way, if you do not have Adobe Reader installed in your computer, you will still be able to access to all sorts of PDF files. In case you need to modify PDF files, PDF to Word Free is the ideal software to do it as it allows you to convert them into Word documents where you will be able to change everything you wish and give them any format you desire.

But if you have many important PDF files, we don’t suggest using some online conversion site, that’s not safe. Instead, you can try some desktop app, like iStonsoft PDF converter, iPubsoft PDF to word conveter, Vibosoft PDF to word converter, Coolmuter PDF converter Pro, and more…

There is an even less expensive Adobe product which also works perfectly but is more difficult to find, thanks to Adobe's annoying habit of trying to upsell versions of their products that do more than you need. It is a relatively low-cost annual subscription service called Adobe Export PDF. It can be found on:

The British version costs a few pence under £20 a year (around $33). The main point is that it works well, producing Word documents that retain most of the original formatting and features.

One day, i'm gonna try to convert a scanned PDF to word, but a converter i download from internet, just convert it to a picture in word document, very frustrated. I search the forum of apple or mac , finally, i got the PDFConverterOCR, handle with the scanned PDF which is not supported by common converter. You can use the free download version , if you only have one page.
